How to pay using WalletConnect

WalletConnect

Updated over a week ago

In this guide, we’ll take a look at paying using the WalletConnection integration in more detail.

It’s important to note that WalletConnect is not a wallet. It’s a protocol that allows you to connect your wallet to crypto applications such as xMoney. As such, it will only work with wallets that support it. If you don’t know if your wallet is compatible you can refer to this page to make sure.

With that out of the way let’s look at how you’ll use it to pay. After choosing to pay with a wallet you’ll see the screen below, where you should choose WalletConnect.

Doing so will prompt the WalletConnect overlay. Here you’ll pick the wallet you’ll be paying with (make sure to go to all wallets if you don’t see yours in this first list). After that, the overlay will switch to a QR code. Scanning this with your wallet will prompt it to connect to xMoney and once you accept it you’ll automatically move to the next step.

You’re now connected and you’ll see a list of currencies that are supported by xMoney along with their respective networks. Here you just pick the one you want to use.

Note: Please review the article containing details on the currencies and networks we support, along with information on payment configurations and constraints.

Almost done! You’ve now reached the final step and are about to make your crypto payment. Because you’re using WalletConnect, all you have to do is click the pay button. Doing so will initiate a transaction that you’ll have to confirm in your wallet. All that’s left is to wait for blockchain confirmation. More details on that are here.

This process should do all of the hard work for you. However, it’s always a good practice to double-check if you’re sending the correct currency to the address displayed and through the correct network. Failing to do this will result in a loss of funds. Below you can see an example of a payment about to be done using USDT on the Polygon network.

If for any reason you’re having difficulties using this process, please note you can still copy the destination address displayed (or scan the QR code with your wallet) and input the amount to pay to initiate a manual transfer.
